As the days before the upcoming election dwindle away, it would appear many are getting more and more desperate to garner votes away from Barack Obama.
Even the organization Focus on the Family has gotten involved, posting a sixteen-page "letter" written from the perspective of an American Christian in 2012 looking back on four years of an Obama presidency.
When did Focus on the Family go political? And a fear campaign?
Really?
Is James Dobson turning into Emperor Palpatine?
I really doubt Focus on the Family has the political analysts on-staff to make effective predictions. However, that apparently didn't stop them:
Letter from 2012 in Obama's America
I read this and wanted to shoot myself for how ridiculous the claims were.
The author starts by saying that he no longer feels America can be called the land of the free because "[m]any of our freedoms have been taken away by a liberal Supreme Court and a Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate, and hardly any brave citizen dares to resist the new government policies any more." He continues with a chastisement of "young evangelicals" who provided the narrow lead that allowed Obama to pull a win.
The letter addresses at least 34 different issues, from the Pledge of Allegiance to Russia rebuilding the Soviet Bloc (which could NEVER happen to the extent the letter suggests . . . most of those countries are now part of NATO or the EU).
I have neither time, patience, nor energy to address the issues raised--most of which (at least the domestic ones) hinge on three of the nine Supreme Court justices leaving the court and being replaced by Obama appointees. However, if you have time I think you should read it.
It's just sad.
And a lot scarier than an Obama victory, in my opinion.

RI-DIC-U-LOUS!
I'm pretty sure Dr. James Dobson has always been fairly political. Not to defend him, I'm just pretty sure he has been.
Secondly, I scanned over the 2012 letter you mentioned (I read it a little while and then I got the gist). It is definitely extreme for a 4-year time period, and I certainly wouldn't go that far in my accusations and put it out there for the world to see. However, they did say from the start:
"This letter is not “predicting” that all of the imaginative future “events” named in this letter
will happen. But it is saying that each one of these changes could happen and also that
each change would be the natural outcome of (a) published legal opinions by liberal
judges, (b) trends seen in states with liberal-dominated courts such as California and
Massachusetts, (c) recent promises, practices and legislative initiatives of the current
liberal leadership of the Democratic Party and (d) Senator Obama’s actions, voting record
and public promises to the far-Left groups that won the nomination for him."
Basically, they're taking the most extreme left-wing, liberal principles and playing "worst case scenario" with them. Obama is very liberal, as can be seen by his voting record, so it may not be too much of a stretch that he would more or less approve of a lot of what is mentioned. But one man is not going to change the country that drastically in 4 years. I can understand the direction the person is trying to take this, but I do agree it's a bit excessive. I guess they figure scare tactics work for some though.
Yeah, no one was harmed, thankfully.
Well, he's at least been political since the primaries, because he was talking about who he did and did not like.
And I don't claim to know much about the international affairs. I mostly looked at the domestic stuff. So you and I were looking at different things I guess, ha ha.
I think we're all ready for this election to be over...
Dobson has always stood his ground in politics. Before now you were just to young to know about it. Yes, it might be on the extreme end, but if someone wrote something about McCain in a simular light those for McCain would be upset. I guess that's part of the the political cycle...fair or not?!
i'd love to start a political party with you, but arent you taking over the world one day?
OK, to reply to your comment on my blog...I agree that some can be VERY mislead one way or the other. I also want to say I think blogs are GREAT, we can say what we are really thinking.
I'm pretty much past the age of caring if everyone agrees
A. it's my blog
B. they don't have to read it
C. I know I'm right...just kidding!
To that I'll just say if you don't like what you read then do your homework to figure out why for "yourself". It shapes you into who you are or become...not by opinions but facts.
OK, off my soap box and on to bed.
We love you!!!
